If you are coming to Kayseri for three days, you can comfortably see the city, the mountain and the surrounding area. We have prepared the plan below starting from our hotel in Talas; distances are approximate.
Day 1: The historic city centre
From our hotel you reach the city centre in about 10 minutes. Start the day around Kayseri Castle; the Hunat Hatun Complex right next to it, with its Seljuk-era mosque, madrasa and bathhouse, is one of the city’s most important monuments.
In the afternoon you can stroll through the Covered Bazaar and the Bedesten and shop for pastırma and sucuk. The Gevher Nesibe Hospital, home to the Museum of Seljuk Civilisation, the Atatürk House and the Güpgüpoğlu Mansion are also close to the centre.
For dinner, you can head back to the Roof Restaurant on the top floor of our hotel.
Day 2: Erciyes
Erciyes Ski Resort is 30.8 km from our hotel, about 45 minutes by car. Skiing and snowboarding in winter; in summer, summit views by cable car and nature walks.
Back from the mountain, you can shake off the day’s fatigue in our hotel’s spa and Turkish bath.
Day 3: A day trip
There are several options for the third day: Cappadocia is about 82 km from our hotel, 1.5 hours by car. For something closer, Ağırnas, the birthplace of the architect Sinan, is about 27 km away, and Kültepe, where Anatolia’s oldest known written documents were found, is about 24 km away.
If you enjoy birdwatching, Sultan Marshes (about 62 km) and the Soğanlı Valley with its rock-cut churches (about 90 km) also make good day trips.
How do you arrange transport?
Shuttle, transfer and day-trip services are provided by partner companies; our reception arranges them on your behalf. For upcoming concerts and events and more places to visit, see our Kayseri guide.
