Erciyes: skiing and the cable car

Erciyes Ski Resort is 30.8 km from our hotel, about 45 minutes by car. Skiing and snowboarding in winter; in summer, summit views by cable car and nature walks.

• Shuttle — to Erciyes in the morning, back to the hotel in the evening; our reception sets the times
• Ski equipment — ski, snowboard, boot and helmet rental is prepared in advance
• After skiing — Turkish bath, sauna and massage at our hotel

History in the city centre

Kayseri’s historic centre is about 6.5 km from our hotel, 10 minutes by car. Most of the places below are within walking distance of each other.

• Kayseri Castle — the historic citadel in the heart of the city, surrounded by bazaars
• Kayseri Archaeological Museum — finds from Kültepe and tablets from the Assyrian trading colony
• Hunat Hatun Complex — a 13th-century Seljuk mosque, madrasa and bathhouse
• Covered Bazaar and Bedesten — the old bazaar with shops selling pastırma, sucuk and spices
• Gevher Nesibe Hospital — a hospital founded in 1206, today the Museum of Seljuk Civilisation
• Atatürk House and Güpgüpoğlu Mansion — old Kayseri houses, both now museums

Talas and Ali Mountain

Talas, where our hotel stands, is known for its stone houses and historic streets. The Ali Mountain paragliding site is about 3 minutes from the hotel by car; for a tandem flight, our reception puts you in touch with the operator.

• Kültepe (Kanesh-Karum) — the mound where Anatolia’s first written records were found; 24 km, about 30 minutes
• Ağırnas — birthplace of the architect Mimar Sinan, with an underground city; 27 km, about 30 minutes
• Sultan Marshes National Park — an important wetland for birdwatching; 62 km, about 1 hour 10 minutes
• Soğanlı Valley — rock-cut churches and handmade cloth dolls; 90 km, about 1.5 hours
• Cappadocia (Göreme, Ürgüp) — fairy chimneys and balloon flights; 82 km, about 1.5 hours
